That weird robotic sound is from 2 things. It's either from pre noise cancellation or from a noise canceller you're using afterwards. To fix this, turn off noise cancellation during recording and just capture the noise. Record about 10 seconds of pure silence (with noise) and use audacity to noise cancel the 10 seconds with no clicks, pops, or voice. This should fix it and give you a clearer mix.
